Use/Recover old user name and/or blog name
-
We are a little bussiness, and we registered at wordpress some time ago, but didn’t use it… until now. By error, the person we ask to see if is possible to delete the account to create new one, see that is not possible to delete accounts, but to change all the personal info/names, and he did. Now we want to move to wordpress and create our blog/page… but we can use the original user name… but we need it! What can we do?
On the info says once changed a user name, is not possible to change it back again. Thanks

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

You can change the name that is displayed (whatever the actual technical username) on the Profile page for your username. It’s under Nickname. Put in your desired display name, save, then select it from the drop-down menu and save again. Your original username will appear in the forums so that staff and volunteers can keep track of who is who, but on your blog and in comments on other blogs, your display name will be what you choose.

Thanks “timethief” and “raincoaster” for your quick replies.
I know well about no recyclying the blog url, as said in similar posts… but isn’t a bad idea? Or maybe there’s a way to contact an administrator, and recover with a CHARGE FEE?
We are looking for the alternatives mentiones above, but as a blog for our little bussiness, is lot of times better looking recover the user name that is the same name as the bussiness.
Thanks again.

As it says here: “Addresses (URLs) for blogs that have been deleted by the owner will remain deleted. We cannot, under any circumstances, allow someone to take over the address of a blog that was previously owned and deleted by its original/previous owner. Please do not submit support requests asking us to do this.”
It totally comprensive, and we agree.. but when the situation is about recover old and OWNED url, thing is different.

Bottom line: Why not purchase a domain name for your business? You can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

There are no alternatives when it comes to deleted blogs, which is why there is a whole series of warnings about it being permanent and irreversible.
But if you’re a business, just register any WordPress URL and buy a custom domain and mapping for $18 a year and get whatever.com.

We have a page fot the bussiness, but we wanted one as blog in wordpress.com. Anyway, we see we have choises, but no way to get back old url. Thanks for your help and time. But seriously, they will consider about recyclying url, I bet there’s many wished names already taken that has never been developed… (I mean, person who registered an url and never used, abandoned it). Thanks again both, and have a nice day. [SOLVED/CLOSED]
