Username

I had issues logging into my WordPress so I deactivated the jetpack plugin and when I reactivated, I accidently accepted my username as my email address. I now can’t have my original username (it is saying the name is taken). Is there anything I can do? Many thanks in advance.

  • Hi there,

I now can’t have my original username (it is saying the name is taken).

It sounds like it’s taken by you. Can you log out again and log in as that user?

When I reinstalled jetpack, I must have created a second account. I am still able to log in to my old username but it only has my old WordPress blog and not my latest which was on there. Is there a way to connect the two accounts together again so I can have one username?

  • Hi there,

To clarify, you are trying to have your Jetpack site (thestyleoflaurajane.com) appear under your @styleoflaurajane WordPress.com account instead of under @lauzieslifestylegmailcom as it is now, yes?

If so the way that you can do that is to sign out as @lauzieslifestylegmailcom, then sign in to your @styleoflaurajane WordPress.com account.

Then, once you are logged in at WordPress.com as @styleoflaurajane, in a new window go back to the wp-admin area for thestyleoflaurajane.com, and deactivate the Jetpack plugin.

When you reactivate Jetpack on thestyleoflaurajane.com, you will be prompted to connect again, and since you are logged in as @styleoflaurajane in the other window, that is the account that Jetpack will connect to.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
