I changed my username on one account to move it to another account but then read that once the user name is changed I can no longer use it. Is there any way I can get the user name back??? Please help
-
I really don’t think so: http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
I would say in the future to make the site you create private instead of deleting it completely. That way, if you have a change of heart in the future, you will still have access to the domain name.
There is another blogger that I spoke with earlier today that will talk with staff about getting his old blog name back. He found under the terms of service that in the rarest of situations, WP.com has the power to reclaim names. I would not count on that, however. I’d imagine it would have to be under extreme circumstances.

Well, that may be one of the extreme circumstances they are referring to. It won’t hurt to look into it.
I’ll flag this for staff and see what next steps can be taken to see if you can retrieve your name given your particular situation.

Hi,
Once you change your username, it cannot be changed back. It will be inaccessible to others as well.
You can read more about this here:
Let me know if you have any questions!

what if I own the copyright to the name. it is my business name. Can you please reinstate it to this account.
-
You do not and cannot own the copyright to any URL that ends with .wordpress.com

@ timethief
That is what I figured, I just couldn’t find a support page that explained that. The link you provided leads back to this post. Was that your intention?
-
Yes it points right back to what Staff stated which in turn points to the support doc that clearly states delete it and it’s gone.
May I say a bit more? Don’t ever get into making statements like “There is another blogger that I spoke with earlier today … blah, blah, blah … Just post the link to the relevant support doc, tag the thread for Staff if required (In this case copyright is a red herring) and allow Staff to make judgment calls off forum.

Names cannot be copyrighted. They can be trademarked, but a trademark does not mean you MUST be allowed to use the name: it only means you can stop other people from using the name.

@ timethief – duly noted.
In other words: relevant, correct and concise answers are the way to go if I want to truly be a contributor of significance in these forums. I’ll work on it.
Thanks for being patient with me and correcting me here and there. I greatly respect what you and others who have been here a while are doing in contributing in these forums and I in no way want to hinder that.
I’ll continue to glean from you and others as I acclimate to the forum culture here. =)

You will do fine as long as you continue to search and locate correct answers from the regular Volunteers and Staff and from support docs. :)
