I recently changed the name that would appear in comments I think, I changed it under my public profile from joer223 to jaco223. In some places it shows up as jaco223, but on some comments it still shows up as joer223. How can I make a change to have jaco223 to show up globally? Thanks

It’s not a retroactive change. Also if you used two email addresses and have two wordpress.com accounts and then only changed the display name or nickname on one account it won’t be changed on the other account. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/

I have two blogs under one email account, I moved my subterraneanblog to my primary email address that is used for BPD. I didn’t have any problem with the email address part of it, as this was done a while back. My concern is you can see the name attached to my Gravatar/Avatar? here in this thread as joer223, if you take a look at some comments on BPD you’ll see some as jaco223. Unless I need to check the public profile
on subterranean? I don’t know if that makes any sense to you. I don’t men t be so confusing, What I’m after is that jaco223 show up here in the forums, as well as in my comments both in replies, and the comments I leave on other blogs. I’ll take a look at he link you’ve offered. After reading the reply can you further advise me?

Your original username that you signed up with will always show here in the forums. The forums do not use our “nicknames.”

After briefly looking at the link yo provided, which name shows up in this forum for example is that my username or display nickname?
jaco223 was a username I registered with at wordpress.COM some time ago but never put up a blog under that username….am I confusing you? So now I want jaco223 to be my username I guess show it shows up globally in forums and in comments…..
Geez I’m confused now.I changed my display nickname in my public profile to jaco223, assuming that won’t change my name globally…

You cannot change a WordPress.com account username once it has been set. However, you can change what is seen on your posts and comments by changing the display name (nickname) in your profile, or you can create a new account and transfer your blog(s) to the new account.

@joer223 If you comment under the alias “joer223″ before changing your public display name to ” jaco223″ on some else’s blog then the name “Joer223” will show up instead of “jeco223” you will need to contact the blog admin to have your name changed and that’s if they agree to do so since it’s their blog.
On your own blog it’s a simple fix all you have to do is edit the comments that have the old name and add the new name in the name field then click update.

@joer223 To solve the matter you would need to move your blogs over to the “jeco223” user name then it will display in the forums and comments as “jeco223”

The problem lies in the fact that at one time I registered the username jaco223 a while back, but never put a a blog under that account, and I guess that account is still registered with wordpress with no blog on that account.
i’m not concerned about how the name appears on someone else’s blog I may have commented on in the past, but going forward I want jaco223 to appear in wordpress forums, on comments on my blog, and other blogs where I leave comments.
Does that make sense? I appreciate the both of you, who I kow are very busy trying to resolve more pressing issues, but this has been a stickler for me.
Do I need to contact support to delete the account I registered using jaco223 as a username? And if they do that, not sure they will, what would I do at that point?
Would that involve transferring my blogs in one way or another to be able to use jaco223 on my current blogs? -
To be able to have jeco223 show up here in the forums you would need to Option one start using that account for forum query’s or Option 2 import your blogs over to the jeco223 account…
P.s. just because the jeco223 account doesn’t have any blogs attached to the account it won’t affect the moving of your blogs between accounts. When you complete the export/import the account will then have blogs associated with the jeco223, account then just start using your jeco223 as your primary account…
I did forget to mention you would need to add jeco223 as admin before moving the blogs from one account to another account here is the support doc for that → Adding Users
Also accounts can NOT be deleted once created → Deleting Accounts
