I tried to join with a u/n I have had for years…teachmeman…I was advised that it was not available. I believe that I am the original owner of that u/n and registered it a long time ago with another e address I no longer use.
How can I find out if this is correct and then make the e address changes to activate it?

I have the name ….teachmeman registered as a domain name, on websites and it has been around for years. It seems like a simple request but it is almost impossible to navigate through your support system to actually ask a simple question.

I registered here with teachman1 just to see whether it is possible to use my old one? It’s been a nightmare thus far getting to this place. I do not wish to use teachmaman1

    thanks

    Are you referring to https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/teachmeman?

If you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

Your last resort for obtaining access is to complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery with as much information as possible and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

You obviously didn’t understand my comment.

I have had the u/n teachmeman for a long time with you (don’t recall if it was for blog, website or whatever)

I have not only lost my password but the email addres I registered with is no longer functioning. Therefor if I asked for a new password you would send it to an e address that no longer exists.

I will try the last resort as above.

I used the forum as my last resort as I could make no progress with your support desk.

If you have tried the recovery link TT gave you (the second link) and gotten nowhere, then the help we can give you is at an end.

you have given me no help and do not seem to be interested in doing so.
The second link you mentioned asks for an email address that no longer exists and will not allow me to submit without it. Does not that seem a bit ridiculous to you?

You can seek the ownership of teachmeman and ask me appropriate questions to verify ownership. Very simple really.

Thanks for nothing. I have received no help from you, no respect, no understanding of a simple situation and complete disdain for my situation.

I will be happy to pass this on to all and sundry and will enjoy discussing your lack of support to many thousands of people.

The second link you mentioned asks for an email address that no longer exists and will not allow me to submit without it.

But the third link provided by Timethief, the Recovery Form, is the one you need. It doesn’t require that you provide your registered email address. The first question asks for your registered email address OR your username. You’ve already said that you have the latter. The third question is “What email address should we contact you at?” When you fill out the form, that is where the response from WordPress will be sent.

    OK
I tried the 3rd link and attempted to complete the question fields.

because I do not have the details (it was a long time ago) I could not send the submit button as it would not accept it.
I did not finalise a blog so there is no URL

I cannot give you the answers required in the ‘tick boxes’ above but can most certainly resolve this with some co-operation on your behalf.
I appreciate anything that you can do to assist.

I’ve tagged this topic (thread) for Staff attention. Good luck.

    Hi there,

I’m afraid that the information which is asked in the Account Recovery form is the only information which we accept as proof of identity for regaining access to accounts. If you do not have access to any of that information then I am afraid that we will not be able to get you in to that account.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and I wish I could help more.
