Username and Email on Comments
-
I recently changed my username on WordPress and I want to change my username from the old to the new on my old comments. How can I do this? Also, I noticed that my email address is showing up on my comments and I don’t like that. How do I fix that?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, when you change your account details such as username and/or email address, that will only change it on new comments going forward. It is not possible to change it on comments that you’ve already left on other people’s sites.
Additionally, when you are logged in to your WordPressdotcom account and leave a comment on another WordPressdotcom website, your email address is visible to the site owner and confirms that you are a WordPressdotcom user. There’s no way to change that. One thing you might think about doing is open an email account specifically for the purpose of your web activity in order to separate it from your personal email account.
If you are logged out of WordPressdotcom you might also be able to comment on some sites using one of your social media profiles. More on that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-and-twitter-comments/
Hope that helps but let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi avidjournaler,
@justjennifer is correct when she says that your new account details will only be added to future comments — the information on existing comments will not change.I noticed that my email address is showing up on my comments and I don’t like that.
Are you referring to site owners being able to see your email address when a comment is submitted? If not, can you make a screenshot of where your email address is being displayed on comments? It would be great if you could upload it to your Media Library — there is no need to share a link to the screenshot here as I’ll be able to find it. Just let me know when you’ve done so and I’ll take a look.
Thanks!
