username and password don't work anymore

  • Unknown's avatar

I tried to log into our wordpress.com account today and the username and password don’t work.

After a few attempts, and I am sure it is right it has been the same for over 2 years, I tried ‘forgot password’ then I am asked to put the username in but then it says ‘username is not valid’

Really stuck on this and would appreciate any help, I don’t understand how it can just lock me out over night, it was fine last time I went in and I didn’t change it, and there is no-one else who could have either.

Is it possible it’s been hacked, or could this just be a technical issue?

    Any ideas welcome

Have you tried the lost password page as detailed here?

I can’t use that page the box seems to be inactive. But I have tried lost pass word on the usual log in screen and it told me the username doesn’t exist. This is the same username that we’ve had for years.

I have managed to get it to accept the username which is dolphinsafari but I have no idea which email it will send the password to because that will be the original person who set up the blog and it was years ago.

Is there anyway that wordpress can reset it for me and send the password reset to the email address on the blog itself?
