Username change problem

Hello,
I opened a WordPress account a few days ago under the username Checkmark Editing. I decided to change my username to my current, avpedits. I have now changed my mind again and opened a real business under the name Checkmark Editing. I went to change back my username to Checkmark Editing, but it says the username already exists. It doesn’t, as I changed the username a few days ago.
What can I do? Now that my legitimate business’ name is Checkmark Editing, I won’t be able to use WordPress if I can’t change it back.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for anyone else to use.

Note that there ought to be “you or anyone else to use” in the support documentation and I have flagged this thread for Staff edit and add that for greater clarity.

Extremely disappointing and quite frankly, ridiculous, since we know the username is available.
