Username in use on very old, unused blog – can I request it?

  I’ve changed my main site domain and tried to change my WordPress username / blog URL to match, but am told the name is already in use.

  When I checked there is a page for the new username I’d like to use, but it is an unattended blog with a single (default) about entry from 2010.

  Is there a way for me to request the name (have the old defunct blog deleted)?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  The name I’d like to use is – cookingbites (note the additional ‘s’ on the end)

  Just change your Display Name on the user profile page of your dashboard.

  I’ve already changed my display name – that’s not what I’m asking for help with; I’d like the blog URL to match the site name but it is already taken with a single-entry blog from 2010 – how can I request that blog be deleted so I can use the name?

  The blog URL is different from the username.

  Deleted blog URLs are never re-used. You cannot use it.
