So somehow my username was (email visible only to moderators and staff)
(This is the username, not the email associated with the wordpress). I never worried about it because I never had an issue logging in until today. Now it thinks that this is an email address from some long ago blog that I created but never used, not a username and therefore will not let me log in. And it isn’t recognizing my email to log in that way, nor do I have my activation email anymore. Is there any way to have wordpress acknolwedge the @hotmail.com as a username so that I can log in and change my usename? I have proof it is my blog as I’m registered with bluehost and can see my wordpress through that, that I have registered it. I just can’t actually log in through wordpress to post blogs anymore. the blog is wanderessaly.wordpress.com

whoops. so the username is xxxxx @ hotmail . com (without the spaces. which is why it thinks the username is an email address)

    Hi there,

It is not possible that your username will be a full email address as we do not allow special characters like “@” in a username. For the account that owns wanderessaly.wordpress.com that is also not the case. That account has a username, and it has an email address, and neither of them are xxxx [at] hotmail.com.

I have proof it is my blog as I’m registered with bluehost and can see my wordpress through that, that I have registered it.

I see no Bluehost domains connected to that site, and that also is not an acceptable proof of ownership in any case. We can only accept your activation URL, or a transaction ID from a recent upgrade on that site.

If that is your site, please complete the Account Recovery form, here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form

As that site has a domain upgrade, you should be able to use the transaction ID in the receipt for that upgrade to verify your ownership.

I will also follow up via email with the email address that is connected to that account.
