Username not recognized, even though I know it is correct

I use WordPress.org for my site now, but I still need my wp.com account to comment on people’s wp.com blogs. When I go to login, I get the message that I’m using the wrong username. I have the same username everywhere (daretoeatapeach) and I even logged in on wp.com using my email address to confirm that daretoeatapeach is still my WordPress username. I also tried copy-pasting it from an email I received from wordpress in the past, in case it’s wrongly spelled for some reason. But no matter how many times I try it, I get the message that the username isn’t recognized.
Am I overlooking something? What should I do? I hate that I can’t comment on WordPress blogs anymore! =(

Just to make this abundantly clear, I’m logged in now and able to post because I can login to the main site with email. Email login isn’t an option for blog comments. So even though I can even see right here that my username is daretoeatapeach, if I go try to login on someone’s blog that username doesn’t work.
