Username Password

I have been locked out of my WordPress Site https://willemaus.wordpress.com/. My password doesn’t work and I don’t know what email I used to set the account up as it is 8 years old so I can’t change the password.

Hi there, if you still have access to the email you registered for the account, you may follow the steps in the article below to reset your password.
If you can’t login to the registered email, then you may have to provide the following information in the Account Recovery Form (https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery) to recover your account.
- Transaction ID: A transaction ID is a unique alphanumeric code generated for your payment. If you purchased an upgrade on the blog in question — via PayPal, credit card, or another method — you can retrieve a transaction ID by logging in to your PayPal account or locating a past WordPress.com receipt sent to your email address.
- Activation URL: When you created your WordPress.com account, we sent an activation link to your email address that you were required to click. If the email you received included a confirmation button instead of a link, you can copy the activation URL by right-clicking on the button and selecting “Copy Link Address” (this text may be vary slightly depending on your browser).
Also, I’m adding a modlook tag to get attention from the staff to help you on this if required.

Hi there,
Please try resetting your password using your username for that account, willemaus. That will send an email to the address connected to that account, so then just check all email accounts you own until you find the correct one. In the case of Gmail addresses, also make sure to check the Social and Updates folders in the inbox, as well as the spam folder.
If that does not work, the account recovery form is the only option.

I think the email account I used back then was (email visible only to moderators and staff) and that account was closed by google quite a few years ago, so I don’t have access to any of this information being asked for on the account recovery form. The weird thing is that whenever someone follows my blog I get an email to my main account (email visible only to moderators and staff) but there was a different WP site connected to that email when I tried to use that to login after the problems started last night. I deleted that account last night trying to clear it up.

OK, now I have received an email from WordPress on my (email visible only to moderators and staff) email saying that this old Valhalla45 account which I legitimately deleted last night was hacked and that my password for the Valhalla45 site needs to be reset.
Is it possible my willemaus account is hacked too? I mean, I have the password for that site saved on my computer and it is no longer working, like its been changed or I am locked out. But as I said, I don’t have access to the email account the willemaus site was created with.

This is the top portion of the email sent to my (email visible only to moderators and staff) email at 7:04 this morning.
Howdy,
Your login credentials were recently discovered in a list of compromised accounts published by security researchers. This list was not generated as a result of any security issue on WordPress.com, but rather an external site or service that you also use being hacked and their user data leaked by the attackers.
For your security, we have temporarily locked your WordPress.com account (valhalla45).

Hi there,
That email has nothing to do with the account you’re trying to recover access to.
Regarding the account willemaus, if you aren’t able to provide an email from the email address with which the blog was registered, a transaction ID, or the original activation link, I’m afraid we won’t be able to help you recover the account.
We have a strict policy in place to protect our users from third parties who might try to use our support system to gain access to other users’ accounts.

The relevance to (email visible only to moderators and staff) is that I have been receiving notifications regarding my willemaus WP site for 7 years on the (email visible only to moderators and staff) email. You should be able to verify that I would think.
I also have a blog post still open https://willemaus.wordpress.com/2015/12/15/grandeur-3/ which I believe is admin only, which should serve as further verification. Otherwise, I guess I start over at WordPress.org or something, I won’t subject myself to this again.

I would appreciate further response; its a bit overly-callous to suggest that I am out of luck because you reset my password and locked an 8 year old site because I didn’t know to save my original email information many, many years ago. Clearly I’m not the only member with this problem today; you guys should please take some responsibility for the situation WordPress created by locking people out of their long-time accounts. Gmail closes a lot of accounts for youtube strikes; relying solely on those old accounts is not a good idea. Please resolve.

Hi, I’m emailing you to the email address on the account that you are logged in here with. I will include a link to this forum thread as reference for our account recovery team. Please reply back to that email to discuss this with our account recovery team.
-
Hi, thank you for your response. I’m usually a nice person but I’ve had this account for 8 years so I’m a bit unhappy atm. Thanks again for responding!
