username, please reset it

OK, I think I finally figured out what the heck is going on; I hope so anyway. When I opened my account initially almost a week ago, I misspelled my username as ashevillevinatgeguitars! (note the vintage part).
I caught the mistake several days ago and RESET my user name in my profile section to the correct spelling of ashevillevintageguitars, several days ago. BUT, I still can’t sign in…when I requested a new password today, WordPress STILL has my old misspelled username as my current username on the email they sent to me today (Fri 10/19), so I could reset the password. The WP email to my email account says my username is ashevillevinatgeguitars
SO, I got back into my profile page today (Fri 10/19), and the username that is there on that WP profile page IS the correctly spelled username from the reset/correct spelling I did several days ago!
Somehow I think that WP is not communicating the corrected username that I reset several days ago, FROM the original misspelled username of my setup date of 10/12. What to do now??
