username problems
-
Whenever I try to sign in with my WordPress username to comment on another blog, I get an error message that says, “You do not own that identity.” What does that mean, and how do I correct it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It means you are trying to comment on a Blogger ie. blogspot blogs. See here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/08/10/crazymaking-blogger-comment-settings/

Yes, exactly. Thanks. I read that article, and it seems the answer is this one: ” The good news is that by selecting the “Name/URL” comment profile setting to comment on Blogger blogs (when it’s provided) your blog on its own domain ie. without the .wordpress.com URL will be linked to your WordPress.com username on the comments you submit.” But I cannot figure out what it means! Can you perhaps explain what the writer is saying I should do when I comment on a Blogger blog? Is it saying that if I put in my WordPress username (amybesscohen), somehow my blog URL (which does not use my username) will appear??
Thanks!

Your username is not an exact match with the blog URL and the
blogger software setting the blog is set up for cannot handle that.
Unless or until the blogger at the other end changes the setting on their blogto the one I state in my article you will not be able to comment and have your username amybesscohen linked to your http://brotmanblog.wordpress.com/ blog when you do. -
Oh, you wrote the article! I missed that somehow. Thanks so much. So do you have a suggestion? I have been commenting using my Google ID, but that does not show my blog URL….
I guess I could just stick it into the text of my comment, but that seems weird.

You can do nothing. Unless the bloggers at the other end change their settings, the way it is now is how it will remain.

OK, so even if Name/URL is an option, what you described in the article won’t work for me because my name doesn’t match my wordpress URL?
-
What’s with this even if … stuff? There is no even if. strong>Please go back to my post and read what I said there.

I DID read the article. This is the sentence that confused me, as I quoted above. ” The good news is that by selecting the “Name/URL” comment profile setting to comment on Blogger blogs (when it’s provided) your blog on its own domain ie. without the .wordpress.com URL will be linked to your WordPress.com username on the comments you submit.”
I don’t understand what you are saying—-it seems to say that if Name/URL is an option provided, there is a way it works, but I don’t know what you mean by, “your blog on its own domain ie. without the .wordpress.com URL will be linked to your WordPress.com username on the comments you submit.” What does that mean?? What is linked to my WordPress username with comments I submit? Sorry, either I am stupid or it’s just not clear.

You want your amybesscohen to link to your http://brotmanblog.wordpress.com/ blog when you submit a comment to a Blogger blog and it’s approved.
That will never ever happen unless the .blogspot blogger at the other end changes their comment the setting to the one I stated. -
OK, I guess I just don’t get what your sentence means, but it doesn’t matter because you’re saying that what I want to do won’t work.
Thanks for helping. I guess I will just add my URL into the text of my comment, though I know some bloggers do not like that for some reason.
