Username revealed in post URL — even if display name is different from username

    There seems to be a big problem vis-a-vis privacy on WordPress that I have just encountered. I am the administrator of a blog with 40 authors. Many of the authors have display names that are different from their WordPress usernames because they want to keep the username private. But, when you click on the author display name either in the post byline or in the author widget on the right sidebar, the URL reveals the username. For example, the author display name will be “oregonprof” but if you click on “oregonprof” to see all of her posts on the blog, in the URL you see her username of “profcarruth.” This seems like a huge problem that WordPress needs to address. Please advise.

    I would contact staff directly on this as I’m sure that was not the way it was a little while back.
