Username says unavailable but I know it is available!

    Hello!

    I was able to log in to a WordPress account I made ages ago in order to retrieve the username and url that I wanted for my new site. I changed both on that old account, yet it when I try to activate the username and url on my new site, it still says both are unavailable. It’s just my first and last name that I want and I now know they are not in use which is making this very frustrating!

    Any suggestions to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

    Whenever you change an username or a site address, the old username and site address will never be available again.

    Hi there,

    Are you speaking of salenablogs?

    When you changed your username, the old username was disabled and permanently removed from our system. There was a warning on the confirmation step that explained this will happen.

    Username changes cannot be reversed, so there is no way to get that old username back any more. But you can change your public display name to the name you want, then it will still appear as the author of your posts and comments.

    We can still restore the salenablogs.wordpress.com to your account at this point, though. Please confirm if you want us to do that.

    I am speaking of “salenaledonne” and “salenaledonne.wordpress.com”

    Any possible solutions with those?

    You are currently logged in as salenanledonne and the site snledonne.wordpress.com is up and running. As @kokkieh mentioned, we can still restore salenablogs.wordpress.com for you if you wish and you will be able to transfer it to another account if you wish.

    If this is not what you wanted to do, please explain what exactly are you trying to achieve.

    Thank you for your quick response. I am trying to make my username “salenaledonne” (no middle initial) and make my site url “salenaledonne.wordpress.com”

    I have no interest in “salenablogs.wordpress.com”

    Is this possible?

    Ah, sorry, I misread!

    I’m afraid that both the account and the site have already been purged, so it’s not possible to restore them or change your current username and address to those.
