Username stuck in limbo!
-
I tried to create an account today and something weird happened – it never prompted me for an email address or password (but let me create a new blog). The final step that it automatically redirected me to just says ‘Nothing Found’ (see http://wayneoxfordphotography.wordpress.com/ ) Now the username is showing as taken when I try to register but it says it doesn’t exist when I do a password lookup (not that it would help). It appears to be stuck in some sort of username limbo. Is there ANY way to actually contact wordpress.com about this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If the username is wayneoxfordprints, then the
Nothing Found
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.
simply means that your blog is live, public, and online. Just write and publish a post and that message will go away.

Sorry about that… Key info left out. It was WayneOxfordPhotography . The second time around registering (With WayneOxfordPrints ) the form was different and completed successfully which is odd,

1tess I have no way to get back into my first registration of ‘WayneOxfordPhotography’. No password or email was ever associated with it.
It said something like ‘http://wayneoxfordphotography.wordpress.com is yours’ or something like that too which my second registration never said.
-
Something weird happened on the registration form – like I said if you try to register it thinks the username ‘WayneOxfordPhotography’ is taken, but if you do a password lookup it thinks that ‘WayneOxfordPhotography’ doesn’t exist.

By “password lookup” do you mean this?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#lost-passwordAlso check if it is listed as a blog on your account:
https://wordpress.com/sites/
(assuming you set up both blogs with the same email address) -

While you are logged in as wayneoxfordprints
do you get to this dashboard:
https://wayneoxfordphotography.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ -
Hi 1Tess,
Yes that is the form… But when I lookup ‘WayneOxfordPhotography’ is says (and I’m copying and pasting):
Unable to reset password
I’m sorry, but we weren’t able to find a user with that login information. When I try to create a new account with ‘WayneOxfordPhotography’: (copy and pasted)
Sorry, but the username wayneoxfordphotography isn’t available.
I have the feeling the account somehow got half-baked. Like I said when I registered for ‘WayneOxfordPhotography’ it let me create the account without asking for an email address or password.
-
And when I try to access that dashboard:
User wayneoxfordprints Cannot Access the Dashboard Requested
You are logged in as “wayneoxfordprints” and do not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for “Wayne Oxford Photography”. If you are not “wayneoxfordprints”, please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are “wayneoxfordprints” and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.

Okay, so we’ve covered all the points we volunteers can help you with. I’ve added a modlook tag to this thread so that staff will be alerted to the problem. If you subscribe, then you’ll be notified when someone responds.

So, it looks like the issue here is that there is a blog with the URL of wayneoxfordphotography.wordpress.com. The blog is public, but it doesn’t have any posts hence the notice on the front page.
When a blog address is registered, the corresponding username is also reserved and vice versa. So, since the site URL was reserved, the “wayneoxfordphotography” is no longer available.
The site wayneoxfordphotography.wordpress.com is not connected to your current account (wayneoxfordprints). Do you by chance have another WordPress.com account that you may have accidentally connected it to?
