Username That is Not In Use

  • Unknown's avatar

The username that I would like to use for my brand is already in use for another account. However, it hasn’t been updated since 2009. Is there a process that WordPress.com goes through to clean out old accounts that are no longer in use? If possible, I’d really like to obtain a specific username for my account. I will be working to trademark this as a brand name.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The username guitarenthusiast actually appears to be available. If you’re actually talking about the site address
https://guitarenthusiast.wordpress.com/ then I’m afraid that is already taken. WordPress.com don’t take existing site addresses and give them someone else however long it may be since the site was updated. I have an old empty site I may/may not use again. I’d be mightily peeved if WordPress.com gave it someone else just because they fancied the address better than their own.
PS: There are currently a number of paid or free domain extensions that you could probably set up with that site title such as .music.blog, .music etc etc
PPS: A long shot but you could try leaving a comment on that site asking if the owner would be prepared to transfer the site to your account. Who knows, they still may have access to the email account used to create the site.
