  i wanted to know why users cant reuse old usernames after they have been discarded .

  i feel that this would be simple enough and useful in case we want to use an old username again .

  The site I need help with is eyerjefreyfr.wordpress.com.

  Hi there,

  There are both technical and security reasons for not allowing them. We’re not able to discuss them in detail here but think about this: If we allowed reusing usernames, someone might be able to reuse your name in the future, opening the way for them to potentially impersonate you. Once you’ve created an account here, the username is yours until you close your account or change the username to something else.

  If you change the username, we are not able to change it back for you.
