Usernames in posts not linking to profile page?
-
I’m new to WordPress, have started a blog but there seems no way for people to click on usernames and be sent to the profile page.
I can’t believe this is the case, because that’s a key-motivator for people to post in blogs.
Or do I miss something?
Thanks!

Actually it’s theme specific. Some themes (Mistylook rings a bell) will go to a built in Author Page while others will display the URL that the author has put into their Profile as the link.
You can create your own Profile Page as a Regular Page (Dashboard -> Write -> Page) and have your users change the URL of their Profiles if you feel strongly about it. Gotta admit though I would have have it point to the URL of my choice though.
If you;re talking about comments though, it;s what those folks put into the URL space that shows up.

Thanks, drmike, for your respons. I can see, indeed, that Mistylook works the way I want it to work, but the design is terrible. Is it a css-matter to make my theme (Garland 1.0) work as Mistylook (in the sense that usernames link to the profilepage)?

You would have to add in PHP coding to the theme to add Author pages and we’re not allowed to do that here since it would be a security risk since this is a shared environment.
Best bet would be to submit this suggestion via feedback
