Users/Accounts

Alright, so I have a website/blog through WordPress that is hosted by Bluehost. To log into my account to make posts and manage my site, I have go in through Bluehost and choose, ‘Login to WordPress.’ From here, it takes me directly to my site. However, if I try to login by just going straight to WordPress, it claims that my username/site name is invalid or unrecognized. Is this normal when using something like Bluehost? Furthermore, I notice that my account is under, ‘admin’. When I go to make changes to this such as add an avatar or change my name to ‘Paige’ rather than ‘admin’, it doesn’t save. So I added a new user and put all my information in, and labeled it under administrator, and it worked, but I cannot get rid of the original user under ‘admin’. What am I doing wrong?

    hi,

Can you tell us your site url ?

Here is the support document on how to make the best use of this forum:
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/best-practices-community-standards/

” if I try to login by just going straight to WordPress”
Do you mean trying to log in at WordPress.com ?
Note that a self-hosted Wordress user is not the same as a WordPress.com user.

As for your other issues about amending/deleting admin user, you could look in this forum; perhaps someone there has experienced something similar:

You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/register.php

We’re able to help only with websites hosted on WordPress.com.

To clear up any confusion, there are 2 versions of WordPress. WordPress.com is a managed environment different from using the open source WordPress installation. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two, different entities.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Your hosting provider customer support may also be able to help you.

    Hope this helps.
