users at private blogs
-
I have published a manuscript at a blog that I have made private. I want to be able to give access to certain individuals without them having to register at WordPress. Is this possible? I have tried adding their email addresses in “users” as editors and also tried in “reading” but they can’t get in without first having to register at WordPress. What else can I try?
I thank you in advance for your help! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That is not possible. Any individual added to your private blog’s access list MUST have a WordPress.com account.

Thank you. I figured as much. Now I want to know why that is the policy. If you have a minute…

It isn’t a policy as such. WordPress needs some way to keep track of who has access to your blog and who does not. Since this is a multi-user platform, all the main files and systems are shared by everyone and it would be difficult to integrate individual registration code in for each blogger.
Your users do not need to get a blog here, just an account.
