users: "Check" keeps disappearing
-
Please help, in the user’s section the “check” keeps disappearing. When I check “administrator” next to my name and click “change” – “400 bad request ” appears. What does it mean ? Is someone hacking into my account ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. Have you tried emptying your cache and deleting your cookies? Are there any other usernames that should have administrator privileges for your blog?
I also tagged this thread so that staff takes a look.

Thanks for answering me, airodyssey.
Second question: No, there no other usernames on my blog, I am the only one.
First question: I am not very computer savvy. LOL What do I do to “empty my cache and delete my cookies” ? Could you please give a step-by-step advice in very simple wording. Thanks a lot. -

These are the four roles that users can have on your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
As you are the original and only Administrator of this blog you need to tell us exactly why you are clicking that? What do you want to achieve?

When I access my blog via Firefox, I have a problem with the editing mode. I cannot edit my texts properly. All these weird signs appear, no real text.
I have just found out that when I access my blog via Internet Explorer, the editing mode functions alright. Weird !
Well – I’ll go in via Internet Explorer for the time being. On Monday a PC savvy friend will come by to have a look at it.
That page “clearing cache and browser and cookie” looks pretty complicated to me (I am not computer savvy at all). So I’ll just leave it up to him.
Thanks for the advice to you both.
Have a nice weekend. -
You’re welcome from me. Clearing cache and deleting cookies is actually easier than it sounds. I recommend that eventually you take a moment to learn how to do it. It could be very useful, even outside of WordPress.com. Good luck.

It’s not complicated at all. You have a PC so do this whenever things go wonky > on your keyboard hold the Ctrl key down and click F5 . If that does not work then log out of wordpress.com and restart your computer and log in again.
BTW I am using Firefox 3.6.16 which version are you using? If you don’t know click here and find out > http://www.whatsmybrowser.com/
If you have an older version of Firefox than 3.6.16 then click here and upgrade it > http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html -
Thank you for your advice, airodyssey and timethief
.
I will learn how to clear cache and delete cookies now. I know it is useful and will do it regularly.By the way, what is the “Ctrl key” ?
I can see F5, but not “Ctrl”.
Could it be “Strg” or “Fn” or “Alt” or “AltGr” or Strg” on my keyboard ???
It is a German language keyboard. -
