Users must login to WordPress to view files they have downloaded.
-
I have a private site that I use to share documents with a group of family members. I upload these documents in PDF format to my WordPress site (http://papalegbalaveau.wordpress.com).
I’ve made the site private, requiring approval to visit. Once a user is approved, I want that user to be able to download my files and read them on their devices.
While testing the site, I noticed that I have to be logged into my WordPress account to access the downloaded files in iBooks or the Kindle App, even though I have not intentionally added any security feature that would require WP login for use.
This is causing a problem in test cases that use older hardware/OS (in this case, a 1st generation iPad with iOS 5.5.
Is there a way to remove whatever is requiring WP login to read downloaded files on the user’s device?
Thanks in advance. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
Whilst the site is private, it wouldn’t be accessible without being invited to view, and for that person to be logged in. The login functionality would be the validation needed to keep that private.
Are you able to provide more context as to why things need to be private? It may be the case the site could be public and certain pages are kept under a password, and that password could then be shared: https://wordpress.com/support/post-and-page-visibility/#changing-visibility
I hope this helps.
