Using a deleted site address

  I created a second blog before I realized I could change my original blog address. When I found I could change it, it told me that address was already in use, so I deleted the second blog.

  Now, I still can’t use the second site address. Is there a waiting period before that address becomes available, or is it permanently gone. There was no content in the site, so I’m not trying to recover content. I just want to change the blog address on my primary blog.
