Using a domain name

Hello, I am interested in a certain domain name on wordpress.com. There used to be a website with that name, but it no longer exist. Still wordpress won’t let me use the name. Is there a way for me to find out who owns the name, so I can contact them or any other way to get a hold of it?

When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.
When we delete a blog URL it is gone forever and no one can register it. Recovering or registering any deleted blog URL is not possible. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
