Using already owned domain name address instead of domain mapping
-
I want to use the domain name ‘gkpca.org’ and have that address show up on my wordpress premium website. From what I understand, domain mapping would redirect users that type ‘gkpca.org’ to the wordpress website of ‘gkpca.com’. I don’t want it to show .com. What do I need to do to use gkpca.org?
I bought the domain name ‘gkpca.org’ from goDaddy and I am currently using Arvixe to host the website.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you pay for domain mapping, it will point to whatever domain you have paid for and mapped. So if you map “gkpca.org” then that is what people will go to. (It’s only going to take them to “gkpca.com” if that’s the domain you set up on the domain mapping page.)

Would I still need to pay for Arvixe for hosting?
Is there a way to transfer domain ownership to wordpress so that I can pay for everything from one place?

Once you have moved your domain name (and existing site text, if you want it) from your current host to WordPress.com, you should be able to contact Arvixe and cancel your hosting account.
If you have email through them, you will need to set that up with another provider before repointing the URL and shutting down your old hosting account, or you may lose messages.

Hi gkpca,
When you transferred your domain away, you dont need to pay to your old hosting provider anymore. Just make sure you cancel your hosting account with your old hosting provider so you wont be charge anymore.
