Using alt= tag descriptions…can do?…or not?
-
Here is the page (see link) where I put them, I’d love for them to show up but I’m not seeing anything (grr, and after so much work too). I’m very visual and hey, I love pretty stuff. I did a lot of this on my old website and even though this is way different, I’m hoping it will be an improvement. The alt= tags were just there, when I uploaded the graphics. But why won’t the text show?

alt tags are for no loading images in browser.
may be you should use title= tag (if is this what you mean) -
Yes, the title tag is the one that will show up when a person hovers their mouse over an image. Alt tags, and ludusnaturae says, will appear when an image does not load for some reason.

OK, I guess I really am old fashioned, LOL! So now I need to look up something pertaining to title tags…yep, that is what I mean…

Errrhh, nooo, I see Title tags are something else again…
Oh well! I can just keep my links widget in place, where a descriptive line does show up as you mouse over each link…

@ladyaeolusia, If you include a title tag as part of the image code, it will show on mouseover. I’ve just tried it in Safari and Firefox and it shows just fine.
If by chance you would like it to show permanently under the image, then you can use captions.
