Using an abandoned blog domain

  When I try to create a blog with the username/address “gallagherstravels.wordpress.com” it says it’s already in use, but when I go to that page, it says it’s been deleted by the author. Since this address is not actually being used by anyone right now, can it be re-appropriated so that I can use it?
