using an existing domain and 3rd party hosting

    I want to create a website using WordPress and post it to an existing domain hosted by 1and1. It seems to be charging me for a Premium plan to do so.

    Hi there, are you also hosting your website with 1and1 or do you want to create and host a website here on WordPress.com? If it’s the latter, in order to use a custom domain on your WordPress.com site you’ll need to upgrade from free to a paid plan.

    It could be that when you attempt to connect your domain, the site defaults to the Premium plan, but you can also connect a custom domain with the Personal plan.
