Using archive blog to list post titles
-
I have the archive blog widget. It displays each month and the number of posts I made during that month. How can I get it to list the titles of the posts either on the front page, or when you click through to a month?
The titles of the posts are important as they will tempt people to read them
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can use for that:
a) Archives Shortcode
https://en.support.wordpress.com/archives-shortcode/b) Display Posts Shortcode

@ lindsaycomplin,

The suggestions by galois are fine. If, however, you wish to use widgets (as you seem to indicate) then for the first case you may display only those posts on your front page with a recent posts widget or a display posts widget, in each case setting the number of posts to display equal to the number of posts displayed on the front page.
The second case, “or when you click through to a month?” — If you’re merely talking about the most recent month’s posts, then the same widgets again may be used, this time with the number of posts to display setting in the widget equal to the number of posts published during that month. However, the number of posts to display would have to be updated with each new post. These widgets may be named as you like, such as “Last ten posts,” “May 2015 posts,” etc.

Thanks, galois. However, I need to add the following amendments.
1. The Display WordPress Posts widget displays a maximum of ten (10) posts. It may not be useful for displaying links to a month of posts, and will not display a list of all of the posts on the front page if there are more than ten.
2. The Recent Post Widget may display a maximum of 50 posts (title links). According to the 2012 topic “Problems with Widget “Recent Posts,” the widget could display hundreds of posts until early October 2012 when WordPress set the maximum to 50, because without the limit
There were some fatal errors and timeouts in cases where a blog loaded an extremely large number of posts in the Recent Posts widget or Posts per page setting (in Reading Settings).

Yep. I’m afraid that Recent post & Display post widgets are bad choices…
Archives & Display post shortcodes are better for 50+ posts published.

From the Display Posts Shortcode support page,
The Display Posts Shortcode has a limit of 100 posts displayed.
The Archives Widget support page says,
By default, the shortcode will produce an index/listing of all published posts on your blog. You can use multiple shortcodes on one post/page and also add it to a Text Widget for use in your sidebar.

I should have left this part out of the quoted section since it applies to any shortcode.
