Using Cname function to point to another wp blog

    Hi,
I work with sevrral wp.com blogs, in different languages.
Now, I bought a domain through wp.com for the one I use most, and would like to redirect a sub domain to another wp.com blog I have. (So that example.com remains as is, but english.example.com would point or redirect to something.wordpress.com). For some reason the CNAME function won’t allow it, and redirects the sub domain to the main domain page.
    Can this be fixed?

Or – alternatively, I can also do with redirecting example.com/en to something.wordprrss.com.

    Hope I was clear…

    Thank you, Eyal

Hi. I believe that would require the subdomain mapping upgrade.

    Thanks.
However, if you’re right, this means that although I’m allowed to redirect sub domains of my mydomain.com (bought from wp) to other locations (e.g. Use cname to redirect mail.mydomain.com to gmail) I am, weirdly enough, not allowed to redirect sub domains to wp.com blogs…
I fairly hope that this is not the case, as cname is supposed to new part of my purchase.

Maybe I wasn’t clear: As part of purchasing wp.com domain, you also pay for domain mapping, and you are allowed to forward subdomains to other servers, using CNAME. My difficulty is that the CNAME function doesn’t work when redirecting to another wp.com blog.

Example: I own eyalclyne.com (managed and mapped by wp.com).

    Under DNS Settings I set:

    CNAME en peace4israel.wordpress.com.
    CNAME example ghs.google.com.

Now please try and see what happens when visiting: en.eyalclyne.com and example.eyalclyne.com. The later is redirected with no difficulty, but the first isn’t.

I believe I understood your question the first time, as I did the same test as you before, with the same results. That’s why I said it looks like one needs the subdomain upgrade.

    Oh, I see.
You mean that I need to purchase mappying for the referred blog as well, and not to the domain or subdomain (which were already bought).
    Ah. Now I get it…
Bad news for me, I guess…

    Oh, well. :)
    Cheers anyway.
