Using 'Continue Reading' without being taken to another page

I want to use continue reading within the main blog page and not a link. Is there a way a reader could hit a “Continue Reading” and the rest of the post just appears below instead of being whisked off to another tab/window that contains only the single post. It would save readers time and aggravation if the rest of the post would just appear and not have to wait for the full blog to load in a new page, then have to hit the back button to try to get back to where you were before you were whisked off.

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What I post are your only options.

If you want to display only excerpts on the front page of the blog followed by read more links, you can insert “the more tag” into each post prior to publication.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ Clicking the link takes you to the full post displayed on it’s own page.

Alternatively you can switch to using a theme that automatically displays front page excerpts. This is a list of active themes on WordPress.com that use the excerpt instead of full post content. Here are the themes that do provide that feature > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/theme-with-automatic-excerpts?replies=13#post-1396410 Once again clicking the link takes you to the full post displayed on it’s own page.

Thanks, so what I’m hearing is that there is no option to stay on the main page. It seems I’ve seen that before on other sites. Does this functionality use flash? Or java?
