Using css templates from other sources?
-
I was looking at css templates on freecsstemplates.org and I wanted to use the natural beauties one. I downloaded it and copied the css into the css editor and it doesn’t work. I do realize that I probably need to upload the gifs and the other files with it for it to wok properly – so is this possible?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The CSS would have to have been written for the specific wordpress.COM theme you are using. CSS is theme dependent and each author has their own way of doing it and their own labels for things.
If there are gif’s that are required for the CSS, and it was written for the specific wordpress.COM theme you are using, then yes, you would have to upload the image files, and then afterward get the URL’s of those images from your media library and then go through the CSS and update all the image URL’s with the correct URL.
Again though, the CSS has to be written to work with the theme you are using HERE.

From the looks of that site, none of the CSS templates are designed for the Sandbox theme used here at wordpress.COM.

If you search this forum for “Sandbox Contest” you should find many skins designed to work with Sandbox on a WP.com blog, and they’re available free. I’m using one and very happy with it.

^^ raincoaster – Ok – so I just did that and I found one and the instructions say Upload the “neo-sapien-v06″ folder to /wp-content/themes/” – how do I find wp-content/themes/? Do I need to purchase an upgrade for that?
-
you searched THIS forum? for “Sandbox Contest?” Somehow I don’t think so. Those instructions have nothing to do with Sandbox or WordPress.com.

OK- i guess I used the search unction at the top – which I guess is for blogs and not THIS forum. I give up now.

There are a whack of skins in this thread:

And here are the 47 entries in the contest, free to download and use. Don’t know why you had trouble finding them: I just searched Sandbox Contest and then Contest. It was easy.

Also, check out devblog’s Sandbox skins. He has some really nice designs that are free and suitable for wordpress.com.
