Using CSS to customise boxes around content in blog posts

    Hello!

I am attempting to build a blog using WordPress. The temporary URL to one of the blogposts is http://box5129.temp.domains/~theunji4/?p=81, the main site being here http://box5129.temp.domains/~theunji4/.

I am trying to change the formatting of the boxes around the content on my blog post pages (mainly the around the text and image, but also around the sidebar, related posts and comment section). In particular make the margins narrower and change the color to black. I’m hoping to make these changes accross all blog posts.

I think the best way to do this is CSS customisation. I have managed to customise most elements of my blog using CSS, but can’t seem to do so with the formatting of these boxes around content (I’ve set lots of background color tags to black and nothing has happened). I either can’t find the correct element and when I do some of the css tags are struck out, potentially being overuled by some other styles somewhere?!? I’ve seen lots of similar questions on this forum, but none of the CSS code has worked.

Thanks, I really appreciate your help, you wonderful magicians
    Aidan

  • Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Bluehost.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

And, you can find support for your theme at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/astra/
