Using current domain name to point to new wordpress blog
-
Hi. I have a website and domain name http://www.turningleafstudio.com. It’s now being hosted with a different server/managed pages/website builder than I originally created a long time ago, so I have to learn how to use the new website builder. I’d rather spend time using WordPress as I already manage 4 others (danmedley.wordpress.com, medleyfamily.wordpress.com, simplecatholicliving.wordpress.com and a private one for a ladies bible study). I was thinking of adding a new blog to one of my wordpress accounts, either the jenmedley sign in or medleyfamily one. I’d like all of them managed under one account name but I’d like them to still be independent.
But my main question is, can I create a new wordpress blog/site and utilize the domain name I already have? Basically I don’t want to pay $8/month for a domain site through wordpress because it only costs me $8/year for the domain registration, and the free website builder. So what I was wondering is if I can contact the people who host my domain name and point it to a new blog I create, something like turningleafstudio.wordpress.com…?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,
To use turningleafstudio.com with your WordPress.com blog, you’ll need to update your domain’s name servers and set up domain mapping. It’s not free ($13/year), but it’s less than the $8/month you were wanting to avoid. Here’s the guide for that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/ -
Thank you for the reply. Is the correct order:
1. create a wordpress blog
2. set up domain mapping
3. then change my domain’s name servers?or switch 2 and 3?
Thank you,
