Using Dictation Plug In… PLEASE HELP/NO CODE

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to use the dictation plug in, but don’t know how to install it. The single faq does not address it and the forums are useless. Please send me instructions so I can use it while I am traveling next week. I have three or four long days of driving alone and I want to work on my book and travel blogs during that time. PLEASE can somebody help me. When I downloaded it I dragged it into my applications folder, but I don’t know what to do with it after that. I can’t get it to open. NO CODE PLEASE

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello there,

There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

See here for a full comparison WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and or any third party themes. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

I I could ask you to explain what all that is, or I could just give up. I’m giving up. I’m just an old lady who writes several blogs and books and I need something that will write what I dictate while I’m driving this month. Even if your plugin could do it, you failed to explain it to me in terms I can understand. And that means you failed to answer the question as asked.

Well, have a full refund then.

    And don’t be ageist.

Plugins can’t be used on WordPress.com; they are for WordPress.ORG blogs only. If you want to dictate to your blog, use offline voice-to-text software like Dragon. Problem solved.

Wow, sarcastic for someone who wasn’t involved. It’s not ageist to be old. It’s also possible to fail explaining something simply to someone who asks for a simple explanation.
This is the kind of answer I expect when I go to a forum: something not answered as asked, and emotional sarcasm when challenged. Forums are truly the collaboration of those who know little giving information to those who know less at some indeterminate time in the future when it has become irrelevant.
Thanks so much for your considerate assistance.

It’s ageist to excuse incomprehension on the basis of age.

You got your answer. The answer works. Whether or not you like the answer is irrelevant: it is the correct answer. It was explained in both technical and non-technical language. You understand the answer. Therefore, the work of the volunteers in the forum is complete.
