using domain for separate website

    Hi, a client of mine has a premium wordpress blog with custom domain, foodgoddessoregon.com. I am wanting to build her a custom wordpress website seperate from her wordpress.com blog, how can I use the domain for the new website but still keep her blog, or what are my options? Thanks

    Hi there,

    Domains bought on WordPress.com can also be used with self-hosted WordPress websites. You can either transfer the domain away from us, or you can leave it registered here and map it elsewhere. We have instructions how to do that here:

    Move Your Domain to Another Host

    If you set the blog’s free address as the primary domain, the blog will show at the free domain and the custom site will show at the custom domain – as long as the free address is primary it won’t redirect to the custom one, and the custom one won’t redirect to the free one if it’s pointed to a different host.

    Let me know if any of this is unclear.

    P.S. Only the current owner of the domain will be able to change the primary domain and transfer/map the domain somewhere else.
