Using Domain Name from another host at wordpress.com
-
I want to use a domain name hornbyeducation.org i have currently hosted with netfirms to wordpress.com instead. Not sure what to do at the wordpres.com end to make this happen. Netfirms said that they can redirect the domain to wordpress.com. Do I just ask them to do this now that I’ve signed up with the wordpress site? Or do I have to do something at the wordpress site to make this happen first? Will them directing it to wordpress (e.g., NS1.WORDPRESS.COM <http://NS1.WORDPRESS.COM>* *NS2.WORDPRESS.COM <http://NS2.WORDPRESS.COM>* *NS3.WORDPRESS.COM <http://NS3.WORDPRESS.COM>* like it says in the instruction) be enough? I could not locate the page shown in the support page on domains that says map a domain you already own for 13 / year which perhaps is the option I am looking for. Any advice appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,
You’re on the right track. You’ll need to update the nameservers as you noted with your current domain registrar and also map the domain here on WordPress.com. Go here: https://wordpress.com/domains/… and you should see a “Map an Existing Domain” button. Click that and follow the prompts.

Thank you – that’s going to work :) One more thing: if I purchase a premium theme and customizations, will I be able to wait until the new site is all completed before mapping the existing domain? I guess the in-progress new site would just stay as the current wordpress.com domain name and then I have the option to map the exiting domain from the old site to it at any time…?
