Using 'Exclude Category' plug-ins
-
Hello, I am REALLY new to blogging/wordpress. I’ve seen many posts regarding how to exclude posts that are under certain categories from the main/home page (so there are no duplicate posts showing up).
All of the posts involve inputting a plug-in into the index.php file for my theme.I have no idea what all of this means. Can someone help? Really appreciate it!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What you’ve been reading applies to self-hosted blogs; on wordpress.com we cannot use plugins.
To exclude a category of posts from showing on your homepage, you can use CSS editing (since you have the upgrade). But you’re wrong re “duplicate posts”. Each one of your posts exists only once. Category pages sort your posts by subject; your homepage is supposed to show all your latest posts, regardless of category, so that a returning visitor can easily see what’s new. That’s no duplication, it’s just a different way of sorting your posts. Saying you don’t want some posts on your homepage because they also show on a category page is like saying you don’t want them on your homepage because they also show on a monthly archive page.
