Using fictional date for posts

Hi, I am running a blog where I post articles about a game universe. The game is Star Citizen, and that universe is set by the game’s developers 930 years in the future. I want my articles to be dated based on that, which means posts I publish this year would need to show their publishing year as 2954.

Last year I set 2953 as the custom year in Settings>Writing>Date and Time Format, but once the new year rolled in, my new posts still show 2953, only with new months – e.g. the one I published today was displayed as 3 February 2953, instead of 3 February 2954.

Is there any way of setting a fictional year so that it automatically changes every year, adding a new number at the end?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

P.S. I forgot to mention I removed the year entirely from the custom date format while I’m looking for a solution. This is not ideal, but at least prevents the immersion from being broken by it displaying 2024. Just in case someone from here visits the blog and wonders why it is not showing the year.

Oh and another question: which of the plans allows for customisation of permalink structures, so that I can make sure post links do not include dates, e.g. “redhammermanifesto.com/2024/02/03/post-link”? I went to the plan comparison page and searched for mentions of “permalink” and “link”, but there was nothing.

    Hello!

    Thank you for reaching out!

Regarding your first question about setting a fictional year that automatically updates each year, it seems that this functionality is not readily available in WordPress. Even after exploring plugins, it appears that this specific feature is not commonly addressed. It’s possible that your request is unique, which could explain the limited resources on this topic.

As for your inquiry about customizing permalink structures to exclude dates from post links, that’s a great question! To achieve this customization, you would need to upgrade to a Creator or higher plan.

With these plans, you gain the ability to set a custom permalink structure that better aligns with your publication preferences. Since you’re currently subscribed to the Starter plan, any payments you’ve made for that plan will be credited towards the upgrade to the Creator plan if you decide to proceed with that option.

I hope this information is helpful! If you have any further questions or need assistance with anything else, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We’re here to help!
