Using Getty Images

    Hi,
I would like to start using Getty Images in my blog, but I have two questions that I have to been able to find answers for on the help database.
The first is, does my blog qualify as ‘non-comercial’ since it’s a free one and so ads appear automatically on it?
The other question is, can I set a getty image as feature image for a post, since the getty image is embedded and as I understand it would not appear in my media library? I would like to be able to set them as feature images so they appear when I share a post on Facebook.

    Many thanks for you help
    Ian

We sometimes display advertisements on WordPress.com sites, regardless whether they are commercial or not. You can read more about advertising on WordPress.com here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

Once you’ve purchased a getty image you can upload it to your blog and set it as a featured image: http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image

    Ok, that helps, thanks kardotim.
Now that you can place getty images in a post for free using their embed code, do you think it will one day be possible on the WordPress.com blogs to set that image as the feature image without purchasing it? It’s great to have access to their images for posts. It would terrific to be able to have that same image appear when publicising the post, for example when sharing it on Facebook.
    Thanks again!

I’m glad you’re enjoying the Getty Images feature. Right now because of the way we embed the images and include attribution, it’s not possible to make them your featured image. It is possible that could change in the future, so thanks for your suggestion!
