Using images from internet to insert into post

Hi I am trying to use an image from Google images and I save it to my computer as a JPG file. I then insert it into my post and save the edit and it goes in fine but then when I go to view the website the picture does not appear and instead comes up with a red cross in a box. Any ideas?? thanks.

The post is published. “Do you need a Will”. And we wanted to insert a “Will” picture from Google Images.

The issue of the red x is probably an IE browser issue. Which browser and version of it are you using? Have you tried any troubleshooting like Clearing cache and cookies > http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Aside
Is the image under copyright and do you have permission to use it? Some people are confused. They think that Google images is a supplier of free images when that’s not true. When you search Google images you are locating indexed images and many are under copyright. -
Open the post in the editor, switch to the HTML tab and then remove this from the end of the img src code (after the URL of the image).

Ah, OK here is the problem. That image is actually a bitmap image, NOT a jpg. Someone just put the jpg extension onto it.
You need to open that file in an image editing program on your computer and then do a save as and select JPG. Then upload that image and replace the one in the post.

Yes thats what I did re bitmap to jpg!! BUT i have just taken timetheifs advice of following the link to “browser issues” and changed to using Firefox instead of internet explorer and it worked!!
