Using Links to add a document with direct access

All documentation for adding a document to WordPress appears to involve including or attaching the document to a Page or Post. However I want to cut out the middle step of going to the document page and then selecting the link to open the document and also make the links easier to handle in bulk.

    1. I upload the document to the server and copy the URL, but don’t bother to actually add it to a page or post. I’m sure you know how.
    2. I create a link and paste the document’s URL, assigning an appropriate set of categories.
    3. I use WP Blogroll Links in a page to list the links by category, naming the page ‘Documents’ and adding it to the menu bar.

    Take a look at http://ColumbiaGorgeArtsAndCulture.com/
