using my blog as website
-
I would like to have the front page static and have a tab for blog and I’m not sure how to do that or which design would be good to support that.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To create a static front page, click Appearance → Customize in your site’s Dashboard.
In the right-hand column, click Front. Select A Static Page.
You will be asked which of your Pages you’d like to appear as your home page. Choose from the drop-down menu.
Then, you will be asked where you want your Posts to appear. Choose from the drop-down menu.
Then Save your changes.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this process! Wishing you the very best.

Thanks, Robyn!
Worked perfectly. Now I’m trying to add a photo to the upper right corner of my static home page and I can’t figure out how to do it. I see the “image” widget, but it only asks for a URL, not how to upload from my computer. Any tips?I am a dolt with this. Nothing is easy for me to figure out!
Thanks,

Rachel, you’re not a dolt! :) This is what I’m here for…you stick with acupuncture, and I’ll help with technology.
This is how to find the URL for the image you want to use:
- Click on Media → Library.
- Open the image you wish to add to your sidebar. You can do this by clicking on the image name, or clicking “edit” underneath the image.
- In the box in the upper, right side of your page, you’ll see a field that is tagged “File URL.” Copy everything from that box.
- Click Appearance → Widgets.
Now, you can add your image widget to the sidebar, and use the URL you just grabbed.
Hope this helps! Let me know if I can help further.

Wow! Thank you! It’s done. Still loads more work to do on my blog, but at least it’s not a random construction site.
I really appreciate this help.

Hello again!
Ok, now I have a tricky problem. I’m trying to turn my blog into a website and I was recommended that I get a wordpress.org site and have it hosted. I chose godaddy since I already have a domain there. I opened that and now would like to migrate my wordless.com blog to the wordpress.org site. It wasn’t possible on the button that popped up so I went to the wordpress.com site to try to find the plug in that I could use to save and migrate the site. (I was on the phone with godaddy support) and we couldn’t find it. I tried to use this instruction on my own: https://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_Installation
but I’m not able to understand enough to do on my own. Are you able to help me with this? Thanks! -
First of all, you can have a full website on WordPress.com – we have lots of sites that aren’t blogs here. If you do wish to host your site on GoDaddy, you will need to do all of your own setup and design, and will need to install themes and plugins.
To move your site over, you would do an export of your content from WordPress.com and then import it into your new site. Please see:
