Using my blog name to post to this forum

  Hi,

  A small question. I thought that since I use a personal name under this account to post to my blog that the same name would be used to post here. Instead my account name, which you are seeing, is used.

  It’s a small deal, but I’d rather post here under a personal name.

  Your original username will always be used here in the forums.

  If you are commenting on other WordPress blogs, your name will show up. But in the forums, the link is to your account name.

  You can link “onfollowingchrist” to your blog so people can find it whenever you post here or on other wp.com blogs.

  From the yellow sticky on top of the forums:

  2. How to make your name link to your blog:
  Go into your dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to ‘contact info’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
  Now… when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won’t have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one.

  These forums are open only to members. I think the logic is that wp keeps track of who is a member by way of email address associated with an account, and therefore uses the account name.

  You would have to ask staff directly for the reason: http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ .

  1tess – in that case, the email address alone would be sufficient to verify the poster. The name could float. I can see how not having names changing all the time would be very desirable, but I doubt that would happen often, and if necessary the culprits could be tracked down easily.

  TSP – thanks once again. I think I will contact them, because while my blog name is great for my blog, it seems quite unwieldy for personal communication.
