Using my domain with another platform

I signed up to WP without really knowing what it was and what I would be able to do with it. I’ve recently found another platform that i would prefer to use.
I don’t care about any of my blog’s content (there is very little of it), I just want to take the domain name with me and delete my WP site.
When I go to delete the site it won’t let me as then I wouldn’t be able to access the domain manager, which I can’t find anyway. How do I find this and take my domain name back?
Is this possible?

After you transfer your domain, you can delete your site by following the guide below:

Please read the warnings and advice before deleting a site, as we can’t revert a site deletion for any reason.

Following the instructions given, I did not receive an email with authorisation code. Checked that the domain contacts were correct.

Your address was never verified with ICANN:
I’ve resent the verification email. Please make sure to check all spam folders and All Mail.
Make sure your address is verified before you attempt to transfer the domain again.

I did not receive the verification email. I have checked my spam and all mail folders for my current email address written on the Domain Contacts Information, and I checked the previous email address ( changed about a week ago) as well.
When on the Domain Transfer page it had a button to resend the ICANN email, which I also tried, but did not receive any emails.

It seems that you’ve resolved this issue, as your email address appears to be verified with ICANN.

Each time I return to the domain manager, it has the button to Accept Transfer, and then it says I should receive an email to confirm this.
I haven’t received this email. Should it display the Accept Transfer each time?
