I am struggling to find out if and how I can send emails from my personal gmail account (e.g. (email visible only to moderators and staff)) in a way that it shows up to my recipients as my wordpress.com blog domain email (e.g. (email visible only to moderators and staff), this being the email that I made upon buying a domain through wordpress.com).

Hi Eddy,
I’m afraid that is not possible with a Gmail address. Google does not allow you to setup email aliases. In order for you to send emails from your custom address, you would need to actually setup that email rather than using email forwarding. The former sets up a separate inbox; email forwarding just forwards emails sent to a custom address to an address you already own.
