Using my GoDaddy domain in WordPress
-
Hi all,
First time building a web site and new to this.
I want to use my current domain (for example: gabby.com).
When registering I see I have the option to map my domain. In the payment step of the registration I see that I’ll also own a new domain – gabby.wordpress.com.My question is – what will be my website link address for people: http://www.gabby.com OR http://www.gabby.wordpress.com ?
What steps do I need to do to make sure it will be: http://www.gabby.com ?Thanks,
Gabby -
Hi There,
what people will see will depend on what you choose. If you choose that your site visitors should use http://www.gabby.com to reach you/your site, then you can do so .
For doing this you need to map your domain to wordpress.com Please use this guide for more details:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/Domain mapping is a paid service on WordPress.com, yes, and requires one of our paid plans.

And while it’s possible to transfer a domain to us without a plan, setting your transferred domain as primary on your site, so it’s the domain visitors see in their browsers, likewise requires a paid plan.
You can map or transfer your domain here at WordPress.com site once you are done with your site. Please check the below link for more details:

after setting up, please choose http://www.gabby.com as your primary site in the accounts settings page of your wordpress.com account.
This will ensure your visitors will see http://www.gabby.com as your website
Thanks
