    So I have a domain I own from another provider, so why I need to pay additional $100 for that?

    If you already have a domain, you can choose any of the WordPress.com plans to connect that to your WordPress.com site.

    We have free hosting, but with the WordPress.com plans, you add more features to your site, such as the ability to set a custom domain as the primary address, remove WordPress.com ads, increase the storage and allow file types, and many more advanced features.

    You can choose the WordPress.com Personal plan if you’re mostly looking to set your domain as the primary address on your WordPress.com site. The plan also removes WordPress.com ads and increases the storage limit to 6 GB.
